How Does Concrete Sealer Work?
Wondering… How Does Concrete Sealer Work?
If you have concrete driveways, patios, or footpaths around your home, you might have heard of concrete sealing, but might also be wondering how does concrete sealer work? While most customers who call us or come in have some understanding of the process, we always take our customers through the process of how it works and how we apply it so that everyone is on the same page.
Our Sealing Process
Before proceeding with any sealing process, we always make sure that the customer understands what is involved. We only use the best type of concrete sealer, and so we want to make sure that the finished product meets expectations all around. With this in mind, here’s our step by step process for concrete patio floors, concrete pathways, and concrete driveways:
- Pressure cleaning: Before our great quality sealer even goes near the concrete surface, we have to ensure that it is as clean as possible. This means using one of our state of the art pressure cleaning units and going over every inch of the concrete surface. This will get rid of staining, debris, and built up dirt and grime. Basically, we’re getting rid of all of the material and staining that builds up on the surface of the concrete over time so that we can apply our final sealant layer to a clean surface. The last thing we want is to trap dirt underneath the sealant!
- Drying: After we’re happy that the entire concrete surface has been cleaned, we leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. Concrete is a porous substance, so it will soak up some of the water we use to clean it. The concrete needs to dry out for at least 24 hours before we even think about applying the final sealant layer. Sealing it too soon could mean that moisture is trapped beneath the final layer, which can cause cloudiness or milkiness of the sealant. Some operators might rush in, but we prefer to take our time and do a much better job!
- Seal: Once we are happy that the concrete surface is dry enough and is as clean as we can get it using one of our special pressure washing units and rotary attachments, we then apply the final sealant layer. This doesn’t take a long time, but it is also the most crucial process. This is when your driveway, footpath, patio or other concrete area takes on a brand new look when the sealant is completely dry and ready to walk on!
Meet Your Brand New Concrete
We’ve heard plenty of our customers say that with the addition of our sealant, their driveway or other concrete area looks brand new again! The good thing about our sealant is that it is not only durable, but it also protects from oil, rain, dirt, and other contaminants.
When talking to our customers about how our concrete sealer works, they are often surprised at just how simple the process actually is. For a relatively moderate investment, they tend to find that quite a bit of value has been added to the home. We’d say this is a win!
